One of our more recent projects was the 1,000 hour engines service and generator service for BLUE; a San Juan 40 based permanently in Jolly Harbour, Antigua.

San Juan 40 motorboat

The boat was already on the hard in Jolly Harbour Marina; just steps from our workshop.  BLUE has two Yanmar 6LY3 engines that required the 1,000 service plus the generator, too.

We took off the heat exchangers, the turbo chargers, the oil coolers and the after coolers.  All of these elements were worked on and serviced in our workshop.  They were then carefully rebuilt and replaced.  We then took off the sea water pumps and made sure that they were completely serviced and rebuilt.

The next step was to get up close and personal in the engine rooms.  These are small places to work so you have to be super efficient and compact.

Once in the engine compartments, we can then begin to connect all hoses and tighten everything.

The next job was to change all of the belts.  In this instance, the boat owner had bought in his own belts.  We have the flexibility to work with our owners in any number of ways, so just chat with us about what works for you.

The next step is to launch the boat and then replace all of the oil filters when the oil is warm.  This has to happen after launch.  The owner books his own launch with the Marina office and Lindsay Ralph, the boatyard supervisor, confirms the time and date of the launch and oversees all of the boatyard work.  There is always a full team on hand to help and offer guidance.
